De Mobili Endowment Lectures

Roberto de Nobili (1577 – 16 January 1656) is a much-revered Jesuit priest, originally from Italy. He is much known in the Tamil soil for his innovate and daring steps in inculturation. Seeking to interact with the local population here in Tamilnadu, he adapted himself to the local customs and culture in late seventeenth century, much to the displeasure of his peers and authorities of his time.
This endowment lecture was instituted by Satya Nilayam to honour his courage, creativity and foresight.
